Network Rail is preparing to start the bid race in May for three major plain line track work delivery deals covering Britain.
A supplier event has been scheduled for the 23 April in London with a venue yet to be named to outline changes to the proposed new framework plan
The extended 10-year work package for control period 6 and 7 is expected to be worth anywhere between £3bn and £5bn.
At present three contractors deliver track renewals. These are Babcock, Amey Rail, which bought Carillion’s contracts three weeks ago, and Colas.
For the framework renewal ,Network Rail wants design and installation suppliers to pre-form as consortia to prequalify for the forthcoming tender race.
The three new regional packages are the south: covering Western, Wales, Wessex, South East, and Anglia routes, central covering London North Western, London North Eastern, and East Midlands; and the north, including Scotland.
The scope will predominantly covers design and construction of track works on plain line track and switches and crossings points.
Formal invitation to prequalify will be released on 9 May 2018 with contract winners name at the end of the year.
