Arup has is planning a wave of redundancies blaming a slowdown in work after the Brexit vote.
The multidisciplinary consultant has started consultations on plans for the jobs cull in October.
Up to 10% of staff at the Building division, employing around 900 staff, are understood to be under threat because of delays and cancellations to commercial projects.
Nigel Tonks, head of Arup’s Buildings London wrote to staff announcing the plans warning that the firm was seeing signs of delays in investment decisions, particularly in the commercial sector, as investors wait for clarity on Britain’s future relationship with the EU.
A spokesperson for Arup said: “We are operating in a period of uncertainty in the UK economy following the referendum vote in June.
“Arup needs to ensure its long-term business health and it is essential that we match our shape with future market requirements.”
