The race has officially started to prequalify firms for the country’s biggest regional building framework, worth up to £5.2bn.
The eleven contractors on the existing southern construction framework now face a fight to retain their places with BAM, Galliford Try, Kier, Morgan Sindall, Wates and Willmott Dixon defending places on all three regional lots.
Up to 50 firms will be shortlisted to bid for the fourth generation Southern Construction Framework, which consolidates a public work pipeline of £1.9bn to 5.2bn over four years.
It is being jointly procured by Devon and Hampshire County Councils.
Procurement chiefs are looking for firms that embrace best practice in early contractor involvement, collaborative working and 2 Stage open book contracts on projects varying in size from £2m to over £200m. Firms will need to turnover £30m to prequalifiy.
