Developer Western Homes has submitted plans for more than 1,000 new homes and shops to regenerate an area of Norwich city centre.
The redevelopment of the Anglia Square shopping complex comes after £12.2m was allocated by the government.
The volume house builder in partnership with with landowner and retail expert Columbia Threadneedle submitted the outline hybrid planning application for Anglia Square, which also includes a 200-bed hotel and a new city car park, after two years of consultations with the city council.
It also includes a detailed application for the first phase of the 1.2m sq ft scheme.
Bob Weston, chief executive of Weston Homes, said: “Based on two years of extensive discussions with the City Council and local community the proposals for Anglia Square would transform it into a vibrant mixed use urban quarter. Bringing inward investment and job creation, the regenerated site would help to further enhance the local community and compliment the existing city centre.”
