Graham lands £24m private school sports centre

England’s third largest independent school has appointed Graham Construction to deliver a £24m sports centre project.

Oundle School near Peterborough is funding the large sports centre, which will include building an Olympic-size swimming pool, an 8-court sports hall, separate fitness suite with up to 70 stations, a dance studio and three further multipurpose studios.

The centre is part of a wider sports masterplan, which will also include a new athletics track, 8 extra tennis courts, two AstroTurf pitches and six additional netball courts.

The sports complex was designed by Saunders Boston architect with M&E consultant K J Tait and structural design by Ramboll

John Maguire, regional business development director for Graham Construction’s Birmingham office, said: “Sport is an enormous part of school life at Oundle and this new centre will offer pupils and the local community modern facilities for a wide range of sports and activities, replacing the current 1970s building.

“For us, this is a highly-rewarding project to be working on and we look forward to collaborating with the wider team on delivering these new and enhanced facilities for the pupils’ use and enjoyment.”

Construction is due to be completed in the academic year 2019-20.

Project includes a six-lane 50m swimming pool
