WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has been awarded a lead role on the project and cost management role for Parliament’s Northern Estate Programme (NEP).
Consultants including Gleeds and architect BDP will also be working on the £500m programme to refurbish and develop historic buildings that currently accommodate office space for the House of Commons.
This includes Norman Shaw North, Norman Shaw South, 1 Derby Gate and 1 Parliament Street. In total around 15,300 sqm of office space will be refurbished.
The buildings require essential refurbishment over a multi‐year programme which will run until the early 2020s.
David Luscombe, WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff project director, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to bring a key part of the Parliamentary Estate up to the standards of a modern office environment.
“Refurbishment on this scale hasn’t been carried out for decades, so these much-needed upgrades will respect Parliament’s heritage whilst ensuring future generations can continue to work at the very heart of UK politics.”
