Midlands M&E specialist MVS Group collapses

National building services specialist MVS Group has been placed into administration.

Administrators from Duff & Phelps were formally appointed to run the £16m turnover Dudley-based business on the eve of the industry Christmas shutdown.

MVS specialised in carrying out full turnkey mechanical and electrical installations, including principal design management, in addition to building fabric fit-out, refurbishment and build.

Managing director David Massey had overseen a period of rapid growth at the group in the last year, which saw it double staff to around 40 people and last summer open a new regional office in Manchester to hunt for work in the city’s booming residential and student accommodation market.

It has also recently picked up its largest single order worth over £5m, with the firm’s bosses predicting group sales to exceed £25m this year.

This growth forecast was being driven by a hat-trick of contracts including a £1m mechanical package at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium to deliver mechanical services to 40 concession stands.

MVS also recently completed a major mechanical services package for Interserve on The Landsdowne luxury residential scheme in Birmingham and well as a pipework installation job with NG Bailey for Carillion at Midland Metropolitan Hospital.
