£160m fire safety retrofit framework winners

Housing association procurement group Re:allies has awarded contracts to over 50 firms for its new fire risk and mitigation framework.

It is one of the first of its kind available across England and Wales and has an expected demand pipeline of £163 million over its four-year lifetime.

The key lots for cover the fitting of sprinkler systems across the regions, expected to account for £100m spend.

Separate works lots cover installation of fire doors, smoke seals, intumescent strips and fire signage.

The framework has been designed in consultation with Greater Manchester Fire Safety Technical Group, a sub group to the Greater Manchester High Rise Taskforce, to ensure it provides users with maximum safety and compliance against regulations in light of the horrific Grenfell Tower tragedy last year.

Paul Tennant, chair of the Re:allies Partnership, said: “I’m very pleased that Reallies is one of the first organisations offering a comprehensive fire risk and mitigation framework using a diverse range of small and large contractors.

“This is a critically important matter for the housing industry and we have worked with the Greater Manchester High Rise Taskforce in its development and packaged the framework so that it is not subject to variations in pricing.”
