Bids invited for £200m UCL East campus project

University College London has started bidding on the first of its major building projects at a new eastern campus near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

UCL is investing £270m in UCL East as part of a £1.2bn programme to expand and upgrade its facilities, including its historic Bloomsbury campus.

The first phase of UCL East is expected to accommodate approximately 3,000 students and 625 staff, including academics and researchers.

A Stanton Williams-led team has won the design contract for Marshgate, a 340,000 sq ft academic facility, located south of the ArcelorMittal Orbit.

The proposed development comprises of a 9-floor academic block with 2 floors of rooftop plant and a partial basement.

The main building has a double height atrium with escalators leading to the 2nd floor, designed as the main academic arrival point.

Interested bidders must register on the procurement website to receive documentation.
