30 jobs lost as Yorkshire precast firm collapses

Yorkshire-based precast specialist Ebor Concretes has collapsed with the loss of up to 30 jobs.

The Rippon headquartered firm traced is history back 77 years and specialised in the design and manufacture of structural and civil engineering components.

It was bought by Amber Precast, which operates as a separate sister company producing precast stone products, back in early 2016.

A former employee said the firm has been hit by the very competitive precast market in the UK, which sees Irish precast companies often securing orders at with rock-bottom deals even allowing for shipping costs.

Ebor counted most major contractors among its clients, including BAM, Galliford Try, McLaren, Eirc Wright and Wates.

It was working on the 8,000-seat York City Community Stadium project where it supplied terraces and stairwells to main contractor Buckingham.
