Mace tops February contracts league

Mace booked the highest value of orders in February after bagging the £1.65bn HS2 Euston station project in joint venture with Spanish giant Dragados.

The vast project lifted Mace up through the ranks of the rolling 12-month table from 10th last month to second place behind Kier.

Balfour Beatty also rose on the annualised rankings to take a top three place on the strength of its win in joint venture with Vinci for HS2’s Old Oak Common station, which Glenigan, values at £1.3bn.

Skanska came out with the highest value of civil engineering orders in February on the strength of its return to new road work, securing a £282m contract to upgrade the M42 at Junction 6 near Birmingham.

While Tarmac, which includes now includes Tarmac Contracting and Alun Griffiths, remains at the top of the annualised league for civil engineering orders.

Among the other big orders during February Skanska also bagged the £150m 20 Ropemaker Street scheme in London.


Contractor Mclaren secured a £130m order for Larking Town Twin Towers for London Borough of Barking & Dagenham.

Interserve is also reported by Glenigan to have now signed the contract for the £170m Glen Parva prison in Leicestershire.
