Skanska is understood to have won a £282m contract to upgrade the M42 at Junction 6 near Birmingham.
Construction information specialist Glenigan said Skanska has landed the deal with work set to start next March and last three years.
The scheme involves construction of 2.4km of dual carriageway link road between A45 Clock Interchange and a new junction on the M42 south of J6 to enhance the motorway capacity at the congested junction.
The road upgrade work will support a series of planned new developments in the area.
