£24m Southampton Ports win for Morgan Sindall

Morgan Sindall has bagged a brace of jobs worth £24m to further extend car storage and handling facilities at the Port of Southampton.

Port owner Associated British Ports commissioned two five-deck car storage facilities to enable the port to handle greater numbers of cars, which are shipped to meet overseas demand.

Morgan Sindall’s appointment is a key element in ABP’s £50m investment to transform and expand vehicle handling facilities at Southampton.

The scheme at Southampton’s Eastern and Western Docks will see the Morgan Sindall construct multi-level storage facilities, Deck 6 and Deck 7, with capacity for 8,670 car parking spaces for the port.

Morgan Sindall was previously appointed to deliver the £8.3m extension of the port, a project which the company successfully delivered in 2015.

Andy Duff, managing director at Morgan Sindall in the south, said: “Morgan Sindall is delighted to have been appointed to this significant scheme, following our team’s successful delivery of the first phase of ABP’s Southampton Port expansion project last year.
