Argent unveils Birmingham Paradise phase 2

Developer Argent has unveiled plans for the second phase of the £700m Paradise Birmingham development.

Work is already well underway on the first two buildings – One and Two Chamberlain Square.

Detailed plans for the next office building of around 290,000 sq ft will be submitted to the City Council next month.

Designed by Birmingham-based Glenn Howells Architects, One Centenary Way, will be delivered on behalf of Hermes Investment Management.

Work is slated to start on the project in a year’s time. Phase two will also include a hotel, due to start in around 12 months time, and another office scheme known as 3 Centenary Square, due to get underway in late 2019.

Rob Groves, regional director at Argent, said: “One Centenary Way will be one of the city’s most prominent buildings, overlooking the new upgraded Centenary Square and forming a landmark entrance to the Paradise development.”

The big new office scheme comes as Argent shakes-up its panel of favoured contractors.

The Enquirer revealed last week that Argent is planning to end its long-term framework arrangement with contractors BAM, Carillion and Kier.

The trio delivered the bulk of its London King’s Cross scheme, with Carillion and BAM also landing the first two office schemes at Birmingham’s Paradise

Its new partner contractors are Laing O’Rourke, McLaren, Sisk, Midgard and Rydon.
