John Sisk is believed to be close to sealing a deal to build a vast new aircraft hangar at Gatwick Airport.
Aerospace giant Boeing is planning to build the £88m maintenance hangar on land located within the airport’s North West Development Zone.
The GoldCare hangar is designed on a scale to house a pair of the largest aircraft in the Boeing fleet, the 777X, which is due to enter service before the end of the decade, or a number of the smaller Boeing 737MAX aircraft.
It will be around 140m wide across the hangar door front.
The project includes hangar building, apron and taxiway connection, perimeter roads and service yards within the airside environment and the diversion of the existing Larkins Road and security fence around.
The professional team includes D5 Architects and Mott MacDonald which have helped to meet the brief to design a BREEAM excellent building including PV panels on the roof.
If confirmed it will be the second major contract deal for the firm in as many months. Last month Sisk beat Skanska to become preferred bidder for the £190m Great Ormond Street hospital phase 4 development in London.
