BAM starts two Glasgow primary schools worth £18m

BAM Construction has been appointed by Hub West Scotland to build two new primary schools in Glasgow.

The Blairdardie Primary Schools project in the City’s West End will be will be built on the existing sports pitches within the grounds of the current school at Kearn Avenue.

As well as a new school building, Blairdardie pupils and the wider community will be able to benefit from a full-sized 11-a-side 3G synthetic pitch with four team changing rooms, and a four-court sports hall with internal changing rooms.

Once built the old school will be demolished to form the additional sports facilities for school and community use.

The Carntyne primary project on Liberton Street in the east of the city will involve construction of a two storey school – which would provide nine classrooms, a combined sports dining hall and administration space – on the grounds of the current school.

The combined contract value is £18m and funding has been made available through Scottish Futures Trust.

BAM Construction has a strong track record in the education sector North of the border.

It has completed a number of primary and secondary schools in both East and West Scotland including the £27m Barrhead Secondary School for East Renfrewshire Council which was recently handed-over and Our Lady and St Patricks for West Dunbartonshire Council valued at £25m which opened to pupils in August this year.
