Winvic tops contracts league for first time

Shed builder Winvic’s plan to diversify into the fast-expanding build to rent sector is paying off as the firm topped the monthly contracts league for the first time.

According to construction information specialist Glenigan, the contractor bagged eight projects worth over £250m in November sending it to the top of the rankings.

The haul included a £40m contract to build Cording Real Estate Group’s first build to rent scheme in the UK in Nottingham.

In its traditonal shed market Winvic also picked up a £56m industrial scheme in Hemel Hempstead for Prologis and a £44m warehouse in Derby for Roxhill.

Sir Robert McAlpine widened it lead at the top of the 12-month rolling total league as it continued an uptick in bidding activity following the appointment of a new chief executive Paul Hamer.

Among the other big wins for the month Lendlease has a £200m office overhaul at One Triton Square for British Land at its campus in London near Euston.

Mace bagged a £90m research centre project at Harwell and John Sisk landed an £88m hangar project at Gatwick for joint clients, Gatwick Airport & Boeing.

Create has a £70m student halls of residence scheme in Liverpool for Unite. . Laing has £86m 33 Grosvenor Place scheme.
