Cladding removal plans still unclear at 121 private high rises

The owners of more than 121 privately-owned high rise block fitted with combustible cladding have still to advance plans for retrofitting.

This represents around 40% of the privately-owned buildings identified with combustible ACM cladding systems.

According to the latest Government figures, 86 privately owned flats, 21 student blocks and 14 hotels remain in limbo.

In the social housing sector considerable progress has now been made with all of the 157 council and housing association blocks of flats needing work either completed, in progress or with plans in place to replace cladding.

In the health sector there are a further four buildings where the building owners intend to
remediate and are developing plans.

Across the country there is still a big backlog of work. Of the 448 building over 18m needing retrofitting, just 37 projects have been completed.

Work has got underway on 119 replacement projects.

Building owners have outlined remediation plans for 125 buildings, with the same number still to inform the Government of what action is being taken.
