Plan for £65m MMU science and engineering project

Manchester Metropolitan University is preparing to invite tenders for the next phase of its campus rebuilding programme.

The next major building will be a £65m project for new 160,000 sq ft science and engineering building at the all saints campus.

As part of the enabling works package, the 30,000 sq ft John Dalton West will be demolished.

The larger 120,000 sq ft John Dalton East building will also be demolished, as part of a separate package, once the new building has been completed.

The University is expected to issue a tender notice in the next few weeks with a view to starting site works in early 2021. Three contractors will be selected to bid in a single stage tender process.

New engineering and science building will be linked to an adjacent building that will also be refurbished

There are also plans to refurbish around 90,000 sq ft of existing space within the university as part of the expansion. This project, subject to review, is likely to proceed once the main build projects underway.

Further details can be obtained by emailing the University.
