Crossfield restarts unfinished Liverpool Baltic Triangle job

Joint venture developer Crossfield Exclusive is to restart the stalled former Baltic House development in Liverpool after revised plans received consent.

The firm bought the Norfolk Street site, in the city’s Baltic Triangle, out of liquidation late last year with plans for 129 flats.

Liverpool City Council has now approved its plan paving the way for contractors to mobilise with the aim of completing the project in 2020.

Appointed man contractor Crossfield Construction expects to create 10 new full-time jobs, with around 400 workers on site through its local supply chain.

Concrete specialist Westshield has secured the job to restart the concrete frameworks, which ground to a halt at four stories under the previous developer. It will take the incomplete frame to 12 floors over the course of around six months.

Crossfield Exclusive Developments is a joint venture between Crossfield Group and Exclusive Investments.

Originally planned as a student accommodation project the Norfolk Street site will now become flats

The revised scheme, designed by architect Brock Carmichael, will now be known as Baltic View and will also feature nine office units totalling 1,174 sqm on the ground and first floors.

David Cain, director at Crossfield Group, said: “We have worked closely with Liverpool City Council over many months and we are pleased that the planning committee shares our vision for the transformative potential of this site.

“Baltic View will be a new dawn for the site and our local, experienced team is committed to creating a development that provides a positive, enduring addition to the area.”

Liam Kelly, chair of the Baltic Triangle area company, said: “We are really pleased to see the stalled development site back on track. It’s been a painful daily reminder of failed developments over the past few years.”
