It never usually ends well when a drunk bloke in a tracksuit tries to gatecrash a posh wedding.
But Wayne Rooney has more to worry about than being caught on the razz during his night off.
Snaps of Rooney looking a bit worse for wear may give manager Gareth Southgate a convenient excuse to drop his captain.
Because the brutal truth is a past-his-peak Rooney is not worth a place in the national side.
We saw glimpses against Spain of how a pace-filled England attack could possible trouble even the top sides.
And Rooney simply doesn’t have a place in that sort of set-up now his physical abilities are waning.
It’s been obvious for a while that Rooney is not the force of old yet rather than be brutal a succession of managers have tried to shoe horn him into unfamiliar positions.
A once great striker doesn’t automatically make an international midfielder.
But still Rooney’s supporters in the media consider him undroppable for England.
Perhaps that ill-judged duck into the wedding reception last weekend might do us all a favour in the long run.
I doubt we’ll see Wayne line up against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday and the visitors are tempting at 17/10.
But Jose Mourinho will be desperate not to lose against his old for Arsene Wenger and I can see a draw suiting both sides.
Let’s look elsewhere for a punt and and the slightly less glamorous “SaS” double of Stoke and Sunderland to win looks appealing.
Stoke are in decent form with a few coming back from injury which should see them past a Bournemouth side who struggle on the road.
Sunderland finally bagged their first win before the international break and the visit of Hull is a must-win game which they should have just enough about them to see out.
The Stoke/Sunderland double pays around 4/1 which might make a dent in our rather depressing running total for the season.
