Tender race starts for £60m Nottingham City Hub

The hunt has started for a main contractor to build the £60m Nottingham City Hub scheme.

The skills and training centre will be run by Nottingham College and built on Canal Street near the intu Broadmarsh centre.

It forms part of the £250m Southern Gateway scheme to regenerate the Broadmarsh area of the city.

Sir Robert McAlpine won a £92m deal on the site last week to revamp the intu Broadmarsh centre.

Construction of the new hub project will be funded by Nottingham City Council, college funds and up to £30m from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

The scheme is set to be completed by 2020.

D2N2 Chief Executive David Ralph said: “Nottingham has ambitious plans to increase economic growth and the prosperity of its communities, and deliver a step change in the skills of local residents.

“The publication of this invitation to tender for the new Nottingham City Hub marks a definitive step to help create a College of and for the city.

“I am confident it will provide a real opportunity to develop the skills local employers need. Working in partnership with schools, local employers, our universities and other skills providers, Nottingham City Hub will help raise productivity, leading to improved opportunities and quality of life for Nottingham’s citizens.”
