£560m Welsh healthcare framework winners

NHS Building for Wales has named its line-up of contractors to deliver a new healthcare building framework.

Four firms – BAM Construction, Interserve, Kier, Willmott Dixon – secured the lot covering major projects worth more than £12m, which is expected to be worth over £224m during the next four years across Wales.

The IHP Consortium – featuring Vinci and Sir Robert McAlpine – will take the place of reserve contractor.

The new framework replaces the Welsh Government’s ‘Designed for Life: Building for Wales 3’ National Framework, which included Bam Construct, Balfour Beatty and Interserve.

Projects worth between £4m and £12m have been split into three regional lots covering south east, south west and north Wales.

The same four main contractors will cover these regions, also joined by Dawnus.

The rankings for each of the five varies in each region.

Regional supply chain partners rankings

South East Wales: BAM Construction, Interserve, Willmott Dixon, Kier, Dawnus

South West Wales: Willmott Dixon, Kier, Bam Construction, Interserve, Dawnus

North Wales: BAM Construction, Interserve, Kier, Willmott Dixon, Dawnus

For schemes with a capital value of less than £4m, each Health Board/Trust is responsible for making its own arrangements to procure works and each will have either traditional tendering or framework arrangements in place.
