Battle starts for £1bn SEWSCAP 3 framework

Contractors are being invited to bid for places on the third generation South East & Mid Wales collaborative construction framework.

A raft of contractors, including BAM, Kier, Interserve, ISG, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon, will be fighting it out to renew places.

Known as SEWSCAP 3, the prized four-year framework is used by over 20 Welsh councils and public bodies for schools and public building works.

This time around the number of lots has been raised from six to eleven to broaden opportunities for smaller regional builders and temporary accommodation suppliers.

SEWSCAP lots

  • Lot 1:  Mid Wales (Powys) £250,000 – £1.5m
  • Lot 2:  Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, Caerphilly – £250,000 – £1.5m
  • Lot 3 :  RCT, Merthyr, Bridgend – £250,000 – £1.5m
  • Lot 4:   Cardiff and Newport £250,000 – £1.5m
  • Lot 5:   Mid Wales (Powys ONLY) £1.5m – £5m
  • Lot 6:   All – £1.5m – £3m
  • Lot 7:   All – £3m – £5m
  • Lot 8:   All – £5m – £10m
  • Lot 9:  All – £10m – £25m
  • Lot 10:   All – £25m – £100m
  • Lot 11:  Demountable, temporary building (hire or purchase) up to £10m

The bid race is being handled by Cardiff Council through the Proactis website. Shortlisted contractors will be invited to tender on 5 November.
