Kier tipped for £100m Birmingham PRS project

Kier is understood to be favourite to deliver plans to build around 500 private rental homes at the former Kent Street Baths site in Birminham’s Southside.

Developer Cambourne Land Investments bought the site last year from Benacre Properties to become its first scheme in a planned private rented sector portfolio of 5,000 homes to be developed over the next five years.

The site is bounded by Bromsgrove Street, Gooch Street North, Kent Street and Henstead Street, close to the Bullring at the heart of the city.

The project, which includes a 19-storey brick-clad tower, will be brought forward in five blocks over two phases on the now car park and boxing club site.

CLI intends to develop the site under its new Hygge brand and is using Glenn Howells as concept architect on the project. Plans were approved along with section 106 agreement back in May.

UK and Ireland based Sammon is project manager and cost consultant with Curtins acting as structural consultant and MEP design by Hoare Lea.

Scheme features a two-storey hub building for concierge services and communal terrace
