Norsign shows the way at V&A Dundee

Specialist Norsign has supplied all the external and internal signage at the new V&A Dundee which is due to open its doors next month.

BAM Construction is main contractor on the £80m project designed by Japanese architects Kengo Kuma & Associates.

Norsign was chosen by BAM to manufacture and install the external and internal signage across the project.

Norsign developed a completed range of full size samples in materials ranging from solid European oak, blackened steel, stainless steel and Valchromat to aluminium.

Externally the Norsign team came up with a solution for a set of seamless 1800mm high letters to appear to be floating in one of the decorative ponds at the main entrance to the museum.

The family of external totem signage included manufacturing frames with complex angles in marine grade stainless steel that once installed in the granite paving appear to be ‘growing’ out of the ground.

Internally a wide range of individual letters in hand finished oak, sprayed Valchromat along with others, were used to highlight the main galleries along with a range of wayfinding signs and graphics. ed a solution to!

Norsign said: “The V&A Museum, the only one in the world outside of London, is a fantastic addition to Dundee and Norsign are very grateful to have been able to play our part in it.”
