Travelodge to build 10 hotels at UK conference hubs

Budget hotel chain Travelodge is ramping up its expansion programme with to plans to invest £100m in 10 new hotels near UK conference centres.

The firm is actively looking at sites from Edinburgh to Bournemouth, including three hotel site in London.

Travelodge said that during the last three years it has experienced year on year strong growth from business customers who are also requesting for more hotels close to UK’s popular event and conference centres.

  • Edinburgh International Conference Centre
  • Manchester Central Convention Complex
  • Olympia (London)
  • Queen Elizabeth Centre (London)
  • Ricoh Arena & Coventry Conference Centre (Coventry)
  • The SEC Centre (Glasgow)

Paul Harvey, Travelodge Managing Director – Property announced the plan as the budget hotel chain open its 567th hotel by Telford International Centre.

It now operates hotels near the top 20 largest conference and event centres and plans more hotel to meet growing demand.

Harvey said: “In response to the growing events market, we are actively searching to extend our network with a further 10 hotels close to UK popular conference and events centres.

“This expansion will offer more choice and greater value to delegates and eventgoers, whilst supporting the local economy. Collectively it represents an investment of £100m.

Travelodge has also unveiled ambitious expansion plans to open another 100 hotels in London, in addition to its existing 75 sites.
