Mixed-use developer First Base and Patron Capital have selected McLaren Construction for £120m redevelopment of the former Amex House in Brighton.
Edward Street Quarter is a mixed-use development that will deliver 170,000 sq ft offices, alongside space for independent coffee shops and restaurants.
The project will also include 168 new homes, comprising a mix of private and affordable units to meet local demand.
Demolition of Amex House is complete, with construction set to start in May 2019 with over 1,000 people working on site over the duration of the development.
The scheme, designed by BuckleyGrayYeoman, is inspired by Brighton’s eclectic street scene and will introduce three new public spaces created by renowned landscape designers Spacehub.
David Gavin, McLaren regional managing director, said: “This contract marks the start of our work on this exciting development, as well as continued growth for McLaren in the region. Our strong experience in building mixed-use developments will help to ensure its success.”
