Plans for five resi towers at Leeds Bridge Street site

Plans have been submitted to build five blocks of flats at the Bridge Street site to the north of Leeds city centre.

The 678-flat scheme will be built at the former British Gas site bounded by Gower Street, Regent Street, New York Road and Bridge Street which is now largely cleared.

Developer Ease Treasure Holdings, part of the Singapore property investment company Heeton Holdings, aims to star work subject to planning next year.

The residential blocks will form phase two of the site’s development with an existing office building already having planning to be converted into a hotel. This phase is expected to be finished in the spring.

The remaining part of the 1.3ha site next to the Leeds Inner Ring Road will then be built out with the high-rise residential blocks.

Designed by architect SimonHaugh, the complex of flats will be built in five buildings ranging from 13 to 31 storeys. There will also be groundfloor offices and shops.

Below the common podium will be four floors of underground parking for around 240 cars. The lower part of the buildings will be clad in brick with pale bronze anodised aluminium cladding used on the upper levels.

Located between the towers are three south facing residential garden courtyards. These are flanked by a combination of residential garden apartments and residential amenity spaces.

Deloitte Real Estate is acting as planning consultant, with WSP offering a mix of transport and environmental consultancy and  Winchester-based MKP providing MEP design.
