It’s the little things which finally get to you after a miserable season of under achievement.
I knew West Ham would meekly surrender against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
That’s just the way things are.
One of the frailest Gunners sides in living memory were always going to have too much for an Irons outfit which seems to have forgotten the basics of how to play the game.
So I expected the usual apologies/excuses/misplaced bullishness from our owners come the morning after.
But no. Thanks to the joys of Twitter West Ham’s CEO Karren Brady was able to share her thoughts on our plight.
And here it is – a picture of the cheeseboard served up in the Arsenal directors’ box.
I honestly don’t know where to begin.
But a plate of cheese and crackers has now come to sum up what is wrong with modern football.
Christ knows what sort of pudding will need to be served up at the London Stadium on Saturday to take Lady Brady’s mind off footballing matters if we get beaten by Swansea.
It’s the biggest game in years for the Irons. And I fear for us.
We are a team set up to counter attack but we can’t defend and have no pace.
It’s a toxic mix when coupled with a manager who looks a broken man and owners who replaced Dimitri Payet with Robert Snodgrass.
From a betting point of view I’ll steer well clear of East London this weekend.
I’ll instead turn my attention to South London on Monday night were an in-form Crystal Palace host Arsenal.
Knocking over a feeble West Ham papered over a lot of cracks at a fragile looking Gunners side who look there for the taking by the Eagles.
The bookies are offering a very tempting 7/2 about a home win which looks the way to go this weekend.
And if you are after a Grand National tip – The Young Master at 20/1 will be carrying Betting Spy’s hopes.
