Simons bags £22m Birmingham private hospital

Simons Construction will start work later this month on a £22m private hospital in Birmingham for Circle Health.

The hospital will be part of the Edgbaston Medical Quarter and will accommodate six operating theatres, 18 inpatient bedrooms and several large recovery suites.

It will deliver large-scale rehabilitation services, aiming to fill a void in the UK patient pathway.

Roger Pulham, health director for Gleeds, the development’s project and cost manager, said: “The leading-edge project incorporates innovative design and planning that responds to the demands of today’s healthcare sector, allowing Circle Health to facilitate the best possible provision for the years to come.”

The site is on the former BBC Pebble Mill office and TV studios, owned by Calthorpe Estates.

The design separates the clinical and the hospitality functions in two distinct wings, with all departments accessed from the main central atrium.
