A new retaining wall made from precast modular units has reduced installation time from the usual five weeks to cast in-situ to just 10 days on a McDermott Homes development.
The JP Concrete units have formed the retaining wall at the Oaklands Rise collection of 4 & 5 bedroom executive homes in Rawtenstall, Lancashire – built on a very steep location close to the Ski Rossendale attraction.
At a site where typical full loads cannot gain access, JP Concrete’s detailed precast solution for large modular panels (rather than bolt-down designs) further reduced installation time and cost.
Mark Cutler, Commercial Director for McDermott Homes said: “We’re more than happy with what JP Concrete helped us achieve and how they went about it.
“The retaining wall has such a good finish that it looks better than many boundary fences”.
He added: “JP Concrete were very flexible, listening closely to what we wanted, which was not to over-complicate matters at a steep development, which already has its challenges.
“Access restrictions didn’t faze them at all. The new precast panels flew in. Ten days installation instead of five weeks has been a big benefit to us”.
