Mace secures PM job on Stratford East bank scheme

The London Legacy Development Corporation has appointed Mace as the project management partner for Stratford’s new East Bank development.

The major project, formally known as the Startford Waterfront, was put back on track after the BBC announced it would build a new base for the BBC symphony orchestra filling the vacant plot after the Smithsonian Institution abandoned a major standalone building.

University of the Arts London’s London College of Fashion, Victoria and Albert Museum, Sadler’s Wells Theatre are also planning new buildings at the new cultural scheme.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London announced the latest proposals for the project, and confirmed that the BBC had joined as the latest partner yesterday.

Mace will lead project and construction management on the V&A East museum, Sadler’s Wells East theatre, London College of Fashion’s campus and the BBC Concert Hall.

Contractor procurement has commenced and the development will open from 2022.
