Bam and Sisk win £90m Leeds transport scheme

Leeds City Council has named BAM Nuttall and John  Sisk as construction partners to deliver the Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme.

The Connecting Leeds transport programme will overhaul the transport networks in the city increasing the space and efficiency of the road network for all users, with improved cycling and walking provision.

BAM Nuttall will provide the design and construction of the bus priority corridor and park and ride schemes.

Over the coming weeks, the delivery options will be evaluated on a potential £90m of improvement work.

John Sisk & Sons will carry out the other LPTIP package that is focussed upon works in and around the city centre.

The elements making up BAM Nuttall’s package include five key road and bus routes in the city as well as new and enhanced park and ride facilities and upgrades.

Working with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and stakeholders, the vision for the strategy is to make travelling in and around Leeds a more reliable and enjoyable experience and to make using public transport more attractive.

Leeds City Council executive member for regeneration, transport and planning Councillor Richard Lewis said: “The work will come forward in planned stages to be carried out in the months and years ahead.

“The idea behind the Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme and the Connecting Leeds strategy is for continuous improvements to be carried out across our transport network to make a real and meaningful difference for everyone travelling in our city and better connectivity with the wider region.”
