One of the country’s largest housing associations Clarion Housing Group has called up housing maintenance contractors to bid for a framework that could run for 20 years.
The planned housing maintenance and regeneration major works services framework will be split into three lots: East Anglian and the West Midlands; North London; and South and South London.
Over the full period it could promise a pipeline of work worth as much as £1.7bn. Although the 20-year contracts will contain a “no fault break clause” exercisable on notice after the first three years.
Clarion will review the contract at least once every five years to decide whether or not to exercise the break clause.
Properties are a mix of type from houses and bungalows to flats.
The Easter and Midlands region, expected to be worth £546m, covers an estate of nearly 18,000 properties, of which 7.5 % are owned by Leaseholders.
The North London region worth up to £615m, covers the London Boroughs of Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Islington, Haringey, Enfield, Camden, Barnet, Brent, Harrow, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and Epping Forest.
The estate comprises nearly 20,000 properties of which three quarters are flats and around 13% are owned by Leaseholders.
The third South and South London Region covers housing in Kent, Southern Home Counties, Dorset, and London boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Sutton, Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth, Mitcham, Maldon, Wandsworth and Kingston upon Thames.
It involves an estate of nearly 30,000 homes, of which just over half are flats and 10% are owned by Leaseholders.
Procurement bosses aim to invited shortlisted firms to submit tenders at the end of October.
