Former Carillion MD to lead Balfour/Vinci HS2 team

Balfour Beatty VINCI has appointed Mark Davies as Managing Director for its HS2 Joint Venture.

Davies was Managing Director of Carillion’s UK Infrastructure business before its collapse in January.

Prior to that he worked at Henry Boot Engineering, Birse Civils and Alfred McAlpine.

Davies will take over from Mark Cutler who is leaving to join piling specialist Van Elle.

Balfour Beatty VINCI was awarded Lot N1 and N2, between the Long Itchington Wood Green tunnel to Delta Junction / Birmingham Spur and from the Delta Junction to the West Coast Main Line tie-in, by HS2 in July 2017.

The two contracts are worth a combined £2.5bn.

The joint venture is also currently bidding for further railway systems packages and Old Oak Common station valued at a combined £3.8bn.

Davies said: “I am thrilled to be leading the Balfour Beatty VINCI joint venture team for HS2, to support the delivery of such an iconic major high speed rail project across the UK”
