Betting Spy: Bounce back time for battered Irons

At least West Ham don’t have to face Man City again this weekend.

This week’s 4-0 drubbing came just weeks after a 5-0 battering at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s men.

Anyone who talks about the gap closing in the Premier League between the big guns and the rest should have been sitting in the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday night.

West Ham may have a ground to match Man City. But that’s where it ends.

Admittedly the Irons gave the visitors the freedom of the park to play.

And it’s an impressive – if far from enjoyable sight as a West Ham fan.

David Silva is a fantastic footballer and predictably had a field day in the wide open spaces of Stratford.

The home side were out-battled and out-played. Only one of which is forgiveable in my book.

But the Hammers have bounced back a few times this season after a mauling.

And – I know I never learn – it could happen again this weekend with a visit to Southampton.

The Saints were beaten at Swansea midweek and are surely over-rated at odds-on to win.

You can get the thick end of 4/1 on West Ham and that looks a decent price,

Andy Carroll is in good form and if new signing Robert Snodgrass can get the ball into the big man he can cause havoc among the Southampton back line.

Betting Spy needs a decent result so let’s double West Ham up with Chelsea who will relish the visit of a wobbling Arsenal.

Stamford Bridge is the last place you want to visit in a fragile frame of mind and the current Gunners squad could fall to pieces once the first goal goes in.

The West Ham and Chelsea double pays 10/1 which will do for me.
